Completed!!!

I completed teacher training and took the final exam, which is great. Now some homework to complete and turn in. But that's not all. Last week I participated in the shooting of a new yoga DVD with Bill & Jeff, the Guru2Go team of FitTV. They're former teachers of mine and the only teaching duo I know of. We filmed at the beautiful Insight Yoga studio in Pasadena, home of a former monestery, so the energy and design were literally divine. The only problem is that it's not a Kundalini studio, so it had bamboo floors instead of carpet. Can I tell you how achy we all were after rolling around on the floor on skimpy mats for 7-8 hours of stretch pose, down dog and cat-cows???? Ow ow ow. DVD will be out in about three months, so watch for news about it here!

Nearing completion

This weekend is the last weekend of training for all of us in The Awareness Center Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training program. It's been a fabulous nine months of getting to know many creative, accomplished, talented people -- mostly women. I'll miss the crazy camraderie of spending 10 hours on Saturday and up to 10 hours on Sunday together sharing our selves -- our inadequacies, our loves, our fears, our successes, and our feelings for each other. We've all grown so much! Some of us have embraced the morning cold showers, some still have a ways to go. Some practice sadhana daily, some of us not so much. Some are teaching already, some will be soon. I've proven I can do much more than I initially thought I could, and I've also confirmed that I have some limitations to respect. That will make me a good teacher for others who also have some physical or other limitations. No one is born a perfect yogi, it takes much time and patience and love. I wish all the best to my fellow teachers in training. It hasn't been easy but it has been more valuable than I ever thought.

This Yoga Life Begins

On May 15 2005, I will teach my first community Kundalini yoga class at The Awareness Center in Pasadena (www.awarenesscenteryoga.com). I have taught individuals, but not a class before, so the thrill of making it this far after being in teacher training since October, is wild!
